Inca Onset S40i launched at drupa

E-mail Print PDF

The new Inca Onset S40i flatbed UV printer has just been launched at drupa 2012 (3rd - 16th May). This printer supersedes the Inca Onset S40 and includes many new intelligent features that increase productivity and reliability. Supplied by Fujifilm, the new Inca Onset S40i has been shown publicly for the first time worldwide on the Fujifilm stand at drupa 2012.

The Inca Onset S40i, like the Onset S40, meets the high-volume, fast-turnaround production needs of specialist display print companies, using 168 new-generation, user-replaceable printheads (28 per colour) on a full width print array delivering a 28 picolitre drop size. Key new features of this latest Onset family member include:

  • Reduced bed masking: A new 15-zone vacuum table reduces bed masking requirements for substrates thinner than 3mm. This reduces setup times and increases overall machine productivity.
  • Innovative UV sensor system: Printheads need regular maintenance but this varies depending on the type of substrates used and the volume of work produced. The Onset S40i's auto sensor system constantly monitors the machine condition and informs the operator when automatic cleaning is required.
  • Sophisticated substrate height detector: Sensitive mechanical substrate height detectors deliver accuracy and reliability to provide enhanced substrate and printhead protection.

Inca announces the launch of Inca IDEAs 2012

E-mail Print PDF

20 October 2011 – Today marks the launch of the second Inca Digital Excellence Awards (IDEAS 2012) which celebrate the creativity and ingenuity of Inca's customers around the world.

The IDEAs aim to recognise the power of digital print and showcase the stunning effects that are possible using Inca’s state-of-the-art UV inkjet technology. Following the success of the first IDEAs last year, Inca has extended the award categories to reflect the broad array of impressive products that Inca customers are creating today.

The judges are looking for a combination of quality, innovation and creativity across six different categories: Display Graphics, 3D POS, Retail Interiors, Décor and Furniture, Product Decoration, and for the first time, an ‘Interactive Display’ category. “We are seeing a rapid growth in the use of Interactive Displays where companies are merging digital print with screens, projectors and video, as well as the clever use of QR codes to create powerful installations” says Heather Kendle, Sales & Marketing Director, Inca Digital. “We expect to see some very interesting entries in this section.”

The six category winners will receive an IDEAs Trophy and an expenses-paid, two-night trip to Las Vegas to attend next year’s SGIA Expo (18th-20th October, 2012). SGIA in the USA is an annual showcase for the world’s best digital printers and a great opportunity for IDEA winners to see the latest techniques and applications.

“We were very impressed with the quality and innovation of the entries submitted for IDEAs 2010, not only printed by our Inca Onset models but also by our Spyder and Columbia Turbo models which are still in action producing great products around the world,” says Linda Bell, Inca Digital CEO. “We are extremely proud of our business as developers and manufacturers of ground-breaking printers, and the IDEAs are a great way to celebrate what makes our global customers proud of their own businesses.”

For full IDEAS competition details and simple online entry go to:  www.incadigital.com/ideas2012. Closing date for entries is 31st July 2012 and winners will be announced on 18th October during SGIA in Las Vegas.

HOLLAND & CROSBY EXTENDS ITS INVESTMENT IN INCA DIGITAL ONSET TECHNOLOGY
Progressive company installs an Inca Onset S20 printer, upgrades its Inca Onset S70 and, in the process, removes its screen printing.

9 August 2010 – Holland & Crosby, a Mississauga-based expert in point of sale marketing materials, has recently extended their flatbed digital print capacity, installing an Inca Onset S20 printer to sit alongside their Inca Digital Onset S70 printer—which has also recently undergone a speed and quality upgrade. The new printer and the upgrade were sold by Fujifilm Canada Graphic Systems.

Holland & Crosby Limited was formed in 1997 with the merger of Holland & Neil Limited and J.W. Crosby Advertising—two of the most reputable names in Point of Sale marketing materials. They offer a complete service from creative and structural design through to collating, packing and inventory control as well as metal and wood fixtures. They approach the market quite differently than a traditional printer, positioning themselves as visual marketing solutions providers. As technology has changed, the company has continued to provide the most innovative solutions to retailers, manufacturers and event marketers. Their investment in the latest state-of-the-art digital printing equipment has provided even greater internal process control on projects, and more cost effective products and services. With 33,000 square feet of office and production space, Holland & Crosby delivers exceptional results for its clients who represent some of the most successful companies in the marketplace.

In 2008, Holland & Crosby invested in an Inca Digital Onset S70 flatbed digital printer — the first in North America. While their Onset has met all of their expectations, there were some challenges they hoped to resolve with their next investment. First, they wanted to print white digitally. This was important, because while they could digitally print four-color process on white substrates, they still had to screen print substrates that were colored or clear. They would screen a white undercoat, and then send the four-color job to their Onset S70 printer. Second, they wanted a press that was good for both high quantity runs as well as projects of 'ones and twos' — small, custom work. Finally, investment in the Onset S20 gave them an insurance policy if their Onset S70 needed maintenance or support.

Inca Digital capability for critical cosmetic and fashion display applications

Inca Digital demonstrates an enhancement to the high-performance, wide-format Inca Onset S20 UV inkjet flatbed printer at IPEX on the Fujifiilm stand (9-CD360). Inca will unveil an expanded gamut capability using Uvijet Ultratone ink to increase quality perception. This, coupled with Inca’s use of 28 picolitre drop print heads, produces smooth colour transitions reducing the graininess of light colours and producing smooth skin tones. This capability is critical for closely-viewed point of sale advertising, particularly for high value cosmetic and fashion products.
